Principal's Message

Principal’s Welcome Message

I am honoured and very grateful to God, Senior Administration and the Board of Trustees of the HWCDSB for the opportunity to welcome you and your families to St. Ann Catholic Elementary School in Hamilton! As Principal of St. Ann Catholic Elementary School, I would like to share how grateful I am to return to this very special school community. Each September, brings excitment, hope and promise of a safe and successful school year. Having Christ in the centre of our lives enables us to overcome obstacles that seem overwhelming and together we can conquer all our challenges and move forward in creating a Catholic school community that serves one another to create a positive learning environment for all. I want to welcome all of our new students and their families to our community. On behalf of all of the staff, we pray and hope that this year will bring spiritual growth, social, emotional, and physical well being, and academic success through our partnership and hard work with our parish, families, and peers.

We will continue to strive for excellence in behaviour choices and academics and I know that each student will flourish academically according to their individual strengths and needs and grow closer to Jesus under the spiritual guidance of our staff and parish. I know that the staff of St. Ann Catholic School looks forward to working with all community members in creating a Catholic school that is safe, respectful, caring and one that exemplifies servant leadership. We are blessed to serve our community with Father Oehring as our spiritual leader and we welcome all of the opportunities that our students will have learning from Father throughout the year.

The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board’s philosophy of “Each Belongs” guides our decisions and actions to bring Christ’s example of inclusion to reality each day. Evidence of this will be seen among all interactions between students, staff and parents and exemplified best as part of the everyday interactions within the school. I look forward to sharing in the nurturing of this inclusive approach working in the partnership of school, family, church and community.

We are a unique school in the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board, as we have both the Roman and Byzantine Catholic Rites in our school. Each week, our students from the Hamilton-Wentworth Ukrainian Community will participate in Ukrainian Heritage Language classes on Saturdays throughout the year. We proudly also run the Technology Learning Centre program that supports technological learning for students within the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board from around our city.

We anchor our work within a Catholic community in which our children can be challenged to live up to the mission of our school as they grow through this school year to Live, Love, and Lead like Christ. I look forward to meeting all of you, our parents /guardians as we work through the many exciting opportunities that await us in the year ahead.

God Bless!

Yours in Catholic Education

Mr. J. Curto

Principal, St. Ann Hamilton Catholic Elementary School
